Title V air permits are notorious among environmental control documents for being hundreds of pages long and having thousands of auditable elements.  But they are just one of a list of permits, plans and programs that must be assessed during a typical EHS audit.  Using a risk-based approach – focusing on key elements from a facility performance or agency enforcement perspective – can capture the critical control aspects, while keeping the audit balanced within schedule and budget constraints.  These principles can also be applied to a variety of other documents and programs.
